GAIL Signs Concession Agreement to Set Up MSW Based Compressed Bio Gas Plant in Bengaluru


Bengaluru, October 17, 2025: GAIL (India) Limited signed a Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) to set up a Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plant in KCDC area, Haralakunte village, Bengaluru South Taluk in the august presence of Shri D.K. Shivakumar, Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka on October 16, 2025. and signed a tripartite concession agreement with Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML).

TUnder the concession agreement, the GBA will provide 18 acres of land based on permissible use, and BSWML will supply 300 tons of segregated municipal solid waste per day, which will be processed to produce 12.6 tons of CBG per day. Additionally, the plant will produce about 22 tonnes of fermented organic manure (FOM) per day, thereby promoting circular economy and sustainable agriculture. The Concession Agreement will be valid for 25 years from the date of commissioning of the project.

This initiative marks a remarkable step towards sustainable waste management and green energy generation in Bengaluru, which will be instrumental in achieving the sustainability initiatives of the Government of India and the goals of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
