Secretary (CVC) lauds GAIL’s initiatives towards e-Business
New Delhi, November 19, 2007:GAIL(India) Limited received appreciation from Shri K S Ramasubban, Secretary (CVC) for its innovative initiatives undertaken for transparency and corporate governance today. The Company provides a role model for e-business by leveraging technology like e-Payment, e-Banking, e-Tendering, e-Ledger, e-Invoicing in its business dealings.
Speaking on the Felicitation Ceremony following the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week at GAIL, Secretary (CVC) reiterated the CVC stance that Vigilance mechanism in Government and PSUs intended to serve as management tool and not a tool for harassing officials. Emphasizing, the ‘preventive rather than punitive role of Vigilance, he advised that the thrust should be to prevent the big ticket corruption’. He also applauded the efforts of the company in introducing innovative tools of corporate governance.
Dr. U D Choubey, Chairman and Managing Director, GAIL emphasized the role of Integrity pact that GAIL follows in maintaining the transparency in executing various contracts in the business partnership.
Shri Arvind Jadhav, Chief Vigilance Officer of GAIL gave a presentation to the Secretary (CVC) and explained that the implementation of Integrity Pact in all tenders valued at Rs.1 crore and above is maintained in realistic manner which leads to constantly improve the system.
The complaint system is one of the latest e- initiatives in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) of GAIL which has been in the forefront of launching e-systems for ensuring consumer satisfaction and transparency in dealings. GAIL has signed MOU with Transparency International India and independent external monitors have been appointed in consultation with the CVC. GAIL has taken a number of initiatives for e-business, Bill Watch System, File movement System for fast decision making, Customer Relation Management, Customer Grievance Redressal System, Alarm Activation and ERP applications.
During the Week long programme of the Vigilance Awareness Week at GAIL Vigilance pledge was administered, video-conferencing with top management was conducted, interactive meet with customers of the company in NCR and Bhopal region organized, vendors meet for the first time during this week organized besides, essay and slogan competitions, which were participated very enthusiastically by the employees of the company. Shri K S Ramasubban, Secretary (CVC) gave away the prizes to the winning employees of the organization.
