Shri Proshanto Banerjee gets Marketing King Award
New Delhi, 13 August 2005: Shri Proshanto Banerjee, Chairman and Managing Director, GAIL (India) Limited has been conferred upon the 2005 IMM Marketing King Award. Shri B L Joshi, Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Delhi presented the award to Shri Banerjee today.
The award has been given by Institute of Marketing and Management, New Delhi in recognition of Shri Banerjee’s leadership during the last four years, as a result of which, GAIL has been able to achieve record turnover, profitability and market capitalization. Shri Proshanto Banerjee has launched strategic, marketing and organization initiatives to make GAIL a global player as an integrated gas major. Taking GAIL into retails marketing, obtaining marketing rights for LPG, launching National Gas Conservation Programme and various IT initiatives are his major achievements. Due to his marketing approach, GAIL’s profit has increased from Rs. 1186 crores in 2001-02 to Rs. 1954 crores in 2004-05.
