GAIL bags ICWAI National Award

New Delhi, December 22, 2005 GAIL (India) Limited has bagged two Awards for Excellence in Cost Management from The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI). GAIL’s LPG Plant at Gandhar (Gujarat) bagged the Best Performing unit in public sector manufacturing category and Jamnagar – Loni LPG Pipeline (JLPL) won the Best Performing Unit public sector - Service category National Award For excellence in Cost Management 2005. Ms Komal Anand, Secretary, Ministry of Company Affairs, Government of India presented the award today to Shri R K Goel, Director (Finance), GAIL. This is the consecutive second year for GAIL’s Gandhar unit to secure the position in ICWAI Excellence in Cost Management awards.

GAIL has implemented projects like Business Process Re-Engineering, Bench Marking, end to end data connectivity by ERP implementation, concerted efforts towards maintenance of Cost Accounting Records for the identification of areas of cost concerns to achieve the objective of cost reduction. GAIL has also started maintaining cost accounting Records as per Cost Accounting Records and Rules w.e.f. 2003-04 in all business segments.
