GAIL’s drive to help the senior citizens in association with HelpAge India
New Delhi, December 28, 2005 Mr. Mohan R. Hingnikar, Director (HR), GAIL (India) Limited today inaugurated the ‘Cataract Surgery Camp’ in association with HelpAge and ICARE, NOIDA. Senior officials of GAIL, HelpAge and doctors from ICARE, NOIDA were also present on this occasion.
GAIL has partnered with HelpAge India to help senior citizens. One such step is GAIL's drive in conducting cataract surgeries with intra-ocular lens (IOL) implant towards the effort of bringing back light and vision in the eyes of thousands of senior citizens belonging to the socially and economically underprivileged segment in the society, who neither can afford to the cost of such surgeries nor have access to the facilities.
GAIL is commited towards operating its core business in a socially responsible way, complemented by an investment in communities, thus, creating a positive impact in the society and the environment. GAIL’s Community Initiatives include Environment Protection and Horticulture, Infrastructure, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Healthcare and Medical facilities, Community Development, Educational Aids and Literacy Enhancement.
