GAIL Inks Pact with EIIL for Rs. 100 crore, Okha - Jamnagar LPG Pipeline

GAIL (India) Ltd. and Energy Infrastructure India Ltd. (EIIL) have entered into an agreement to transport LPG through GAIL’s Jamnagar-Loni LPG Pipeline (JLPL). An agreement to this effect was signed between Mr. R Suresh, ED (Mktg.), GAIL and Mr. Shiv Jatia, Chairman, EIIL. Also present at the occasion were Mr. Proshanto Banerjee, CMD, GAIL, and Mr. Antonio Valcarcel Mayoral Head Business REPSOL YPF along with other dignitaries of the two organizations. Under the agreement GAIL will lay the LPG pipeline from Okha to Jamnagar.
The Rs.100 crore pipeline project is scheduled to be completed in 24 months. The 140 km long pipeline will have an 8 inch diameter and a capacity of 0.4 MMTPA(Million Metric Tonnes per Annum). LPG will be transported in this pipeline from Okha to Jamnagar and then from Jamnagar to Loni through the Jamnagar Loni Pipeline (JLPL). GAIL has pioneered the LPG transportation through pipelines in India. The company owns and operates 1900 Km. long network of LPG pipeline in the country. Its 1269 Km long Jamnagar- Loni LPG pipeline is the longest exclusive LPG pipeline in the world.
EIIL is a recognised player in the business of LPG retail distribution in rural sector in North West India and have ambitious plans to market LPG in other parts of India as well.
REPSOL YPF is one of the fortune 500 companies and is a front-runner in worldwide LPG market. They also have integrated operation in entire oil and gas business. REPSOL has taken a stake in M/s EIIL and have ambitious plans for marketing LPG in India.
