Delhi Chief Minister releases GAIL’s book on CNG revolution
New Delhi, June 26, 2006. Smt. Shiela Dikshit, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi today released the book titled “Complex Issues Management Strategies and Tactics” based on the case study of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) and the CNG revolution in Delhi. The complex issues involved during the introduction of CNG, the eco-friendly fuel, have been dealt in detail in this book sponsored by GAIL and written by Professor Ranjan Das of IIM, Kolkata and Ms Kajari Mukherjee of Organisation Dynamics. Shri Anil Razdan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas; Shri Proshanto Banerjee, Chairman and Managing Director, GAIL (India) Limited and other dignitaries were present at the occasion.
After the book release, the Delhi Chief Minister also inspected the recently launched Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) that has been conceptualized and designed at GAIL to cater to gas pipeline emergencies in the NCR region.
The book “Complex Issues Management Strategies and Tactics”, deals with understanding how complex issues, conceptualized as a system, emerge; what are their sources and how they evolve through interdependence between key constituents, which are collectively responsible for both the creation and resolution of complex issues. In order to make the subject easily understandable to the readers, the entire case concerning the conversion of diesel-run public transport buses to CNG has been discussed threadbare. Using this case as a backdrop, the authors have provided a set of propositions that will be useful to managers and organizations in understanding complex issues and leveraging their knowledge to gain a competitive advantage.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Proshanto Banerjee, CMD, GAIL elaborated upon other GAIL initiatives that have strengthened the health, safety and environment quotient of Delhi as a whole, including the recently launched ERV and the Air Pollution Related Disease Diagnostic Centre.
Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi said, “CNG success story has become a part of history of Delhi. It has not only changes the face of Delhi but also the future of Delhi”. She further said that the Government of Delhi aspires to convert all public carrier vehicles to CNG and expand the CNG usage in entire National Capital Region.
