GAIL sets up Environment Parameters Display Board in Bangalore
GAIL in its endeavor to create awareness about a clean and healthy environment dedicated a state-of-the-art Electro Magnetic Display (EMD) to the people of Bangalore. Shri C.Chennigappa, Hon'ble Minister of Forest, Env. and Ecology, Government of Karnataka inaugurated the EMD. Dr. H.C. Sharatchandra, Chairman, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Shri Mohan R. Hingnikar, Chairman and Managing Director, GAIL was the Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Hingnikar said that the beautiful City of Bangalore is one of the 23 cities identified by GAIL under the Project Blue Sky where CNG distribution and piped natural gas is contemplated. He thanked the Karnataka State pollution control Board for spearheading the awareness drive for a cleaner environment.
Mr J Wason, Executive Director (Marketing) gave the vote of thanks. He said that the installation of the Electromagnetic Display Board is a small gesture from GAIL towards its contribution for a cleaner environment. Thanking the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board he said that GAIL’s association with the Board is the beginning and it will continue in future as well.
The EMD has been set up by GAIL to create awareness about the pollution levels and other weather parameters. The EMD will display, apart from Time, Temperature and Humidity, the presence of Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM), Oxides of Sulphur and Nitrogen and Carbon monoxide in the air. The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has helped GAIL in providing a suitable site for the installation of the EMD. The pollution level data displayed through the EMD will be provided by KSPCB.
