Natural Gas Consumer’s Meet held in Rajahmundry on May 30, 2006
Natural Gas Consumer's meet was organized at Hyderabad Zonal Office on 30.05.2006. Shri R C Arora, ZDGM, GAIL, HZO chaired the meet. Sh. Narendra Kumar, OIC GAIL Rajahmundry and other senior officials from GAIL HZO and Rajahmundry were present on the occasion.
Shri U S Rao, DGM(O&M) in his opening remarks outlined the precarious gas availability scenario in KG Basin and sought the cooperation of the consumers for ensuring off-take of gas as per day to day nomination under the prevailing deficit circumsta
Shri Narender Kumar, OIC, Rajahmundry gave a detailed account of the distribution of gas in a transparent manner in K.G. Basin and the various steps taken to ensure uninterrupted supply of gas including pigging operations undertaken from time to time.
Shri R.C. Arora, Zonal DGM,in his key note address explained that the consumer meet would take stock of the consumer issues and would deliberate on the emerging gas scenario for the future so that GAIL and consumers are well prepared to address the changes and the challenges ahead. He touched upon the following points:
- Efforts taken by GAIL in augmenting the gas supply in K.G. Basin
- Gas sourcing opportunities including negotiation with Cairn Energy for Ravva 2 gas and the prospects from ONGCL
- Various initiatives taken by GAIL towards customer focus
- Changes likely to come in view of the Petroleum Regulatory Act
- Need for preparedness to address the emerging changes and prospects
A presentation was made by Shri A. Balasubramanian, Sr. Manager (Marketing) on the “Future outlook & Prospects in KG Basin – Challenges & Opportunities ” covering the Indian energy scenario, GAIL’s Business Portfolio, Business Plan, Globalisation Initiatives, De-regulation of the Gas Sector and issues emerging out of De-regulation, the current and emerging gas scenario, the challenges and opportunities.
The business roundtable that followed, evoked tremendous response from the consumers and various issues such as availability of additional gas, transmission tariff etc. were discussed. Shri Javinder Singh CM proposed a vote of thanks.
