A meeting for reviewing the performance of Oil & Natural Gas PSUs
A meeting for reviewing the performance of Oil & Natural Gas PSUs was convened on 26.06.2006 (Monday) by Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MOP&NG) at Ahmedabad. The entire coordination of the event was managed by Ahmedabad Zonal Office. The meeting was chaired by Shri Dinsha Patel Hon’ble Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas. The review Meeting was attended by Shri Swami Singh, Director (Natural Gas), MOP&NG, Shri V K Dewangen Dy. Secretary (MOP&NG) and senior officials from all the Oil & Natural Gas PSUs viz. GAIL, ONGC, IOCL, BPCL, HPCL & IBP.
During his inaugural address the Hon’ble Minister stressed that the Central Oil & Natural Gas PSUs have to play an anchor role in fulfilling the energy needs of the country. He further suggested that the PSUs should make all out efforts to meet the future energy demand of the country especially considering the fact that this century belongs to oil and gas. Further the Hon’ble Minster of State emphasized the need for gearing up to strengthen existing production levels and also to arrest the declining trends in domestic sources of Oil & Natural Gas, while making simultaneous efforts to tap external sources to meet our energy needs. The Hon’ble minister also highlighted the various steps being taken by the government in this regard.
During the meeting, presentations were made by GAIL, ONGC & OMCs regarding their performance as well as contribution towards industrial growth in the state of Gujarat. Also various issues of concern, requiring the intervention of MOP&NG were brought out during the meeting and presentation.
During the presentation of GAIL, Dr. U D Choubey, Director (Mktg.) informed about the current availability of gas vis-à-vis the allocated quantities in the various regions of Gujarat.
ONGC and OMC’s during their presentation, informed about the present infrastructure, future developmental plans and the outlays, funds towards corporate responsibility etc
After the presentation during the interactive session, Hon’ble Minister emphasized on increasing the production level of natural gas and informed ONGC to make available additional gas to meet the requirement of industries like Power, Fertilizer Ceramics, and Glass etc.
At the end, Shri S Venkatraman, Zonal General Manager, GAIL, Ahmedabad proposed the vote of thanks.
