GAIL supports Community Development Programmes in Kerala

GAIL has supported two Community Development Programmes in Alwaye and Kochi under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. Dr U D Choubey, Director (Marketing), GAIL handed over items such as computers, kitchen utensils and electrical items worth Rs 3 Lakhs to the Janseva Sishu Bhavan (Orphanage) at Alwaye on 9th June 2006 for the project of rehabilitation of the Orphan children and eradication of child begging.

Dr. U D Choubey, Director (Marketing), GAIL also handed over similar items also worth Rs 3 Lakhs on 8th June 2006 to the Don Bosco Sneha Bhavan for the ‘Young at Risk’ project at Mattancherry, Kochi. The fund has been used by Don Bosco Welfare Centre Society, a Non Government Organization for street children rehabilitation programme under the community development activities

During the programmes Director (Marketing) said that GAIL has made special provision for Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) initiatives and has provisioned 1 percent of its profit for the CSR activities. Mr Gopinath Swamy, ZGM, Kochi Zonal Offfice speaking on the occasion said that we would do our best for supporting such causes both at the organizational and personal levels. Mr D Sil, Chief Manager, CSR and Mr D Baskaran, Sr Manager (HR) GAIL were also present on the occasion.
