Gas tech 2006, Mumbai
If there is one sector in the Indian economy that can truly claim to be ‘fuelling’ growth, it is the oil and gas sector. India has doubled its refining capacity from 58 million tonnes per annum to 118 million tonnes over the last four years, a unique achievement for any country. The liberalized Indian economy has also seen several exploration blocks being awarded to private companies, with the result that oil and gas discoveries have seen substantial progress over the last few years
GAIL participated in the Gas Tech 2006 organised in MMRDA Grounds, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai from 11th – 14th January 2006. Organised by CHEMTECH Foundation, it reflects the growing importance of India’s role in the global hydrocarbon scene. The fundamental objective of these exhibitions is to help accelerate the development of India’s hydrocarbon sector in becoming best-in class globally, at the same time showcase India’s engineering and technological capabilities in the upstream and downstream hydrocarbon business.
The Exhibition stall put up by GAIL was appreciated by all present. The event saw the confluence of some of the brightest minds in the hydrocarbon sector as well as the display of state-of the- art technology and engineering skills in an unprecedented manner. Besides the Exhibition display, a seminar was held at the same venue wherein various speakers from the hydrocarbon industry shared their rich experience with the audience. Mr. U D Choubey, Director (Marketing), GAIL graced the occasion by chairing a session on “National Scenario of City Gas Distribution”. He gave a brief introduction of the topic and of the two speakers for the session. The two speakers were Mr. A K Seah, Vice President, Technology and Business Development, American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), Singapore who spoke about the trends in ships for Natural Gas transportation and Mr. Shaleen Sharma, Director, Commercial, Gujarat Gas Co. Ltd. who gave a crisp presentation on National Scenario on City Gas Distribution.
