GAIL confers award for excellence in the field of functional
Management for Women Employees
GAIL (India) Limited has instituted three awards for best services in three categories - Functional Management, Corporate Social Initiatives and Cultural Initiatives to give recognition to the outstanding contributions of women employees.
The awards have been instituted following an announcement by Dr. U D Choubey, CMD, GAIL during the Women's Day celebrations in 2008. These are the first of its kind awards instituted in any public sector company in the country. These awards will be presented every year on 8th March – International Women’s Day.
A transparent mechanism has been devised for selection of three awardees through independent jurists and Director (HR), GAIL, in consultation with GAIL Women's Cell.
Ms Sandeepa Takroo, Sr. Manger, GAIL and Ms Renu Sinha, Dy. Manager, GAIL, jointly received prestigious award for excellence in the field of functional Management, instituted by GAIL on the occasion of International Women’s Day, 2009. The award carries an amount of Rs. 1.00 lakh cash prize. Both the receipients have shared Rs.50,000 each this time.
Dr. U D Choubey, Chairman and Managing Director, GAIL gave the awards in presence of top management including Shri Santosh Kumar, Director (Projects), Shri S L Raina, Executive Director (Training) and women employees from different work centres of the company.
The process included online submission of entries through Company's intranet. The applications for the three categories of Awards have been evaluated on the criteria of major assignments handled, contribution in Corporate Social activities, major cultural initiatives within GAIL respectively. In addition, applications are evaluated on the parameters of extraordinary or unique achievement / initiative and constraints faced and specific action taken in the respective areas, additional qualifications acquired, certification programmes, contribution in sports, hobbies, skills, arts etc. and academic, professional and other awards.
The short listed applicants have been interviewed by the jury for justifying what is projected in application, assessment of communication skills and achievement of overall personality. The jury consisted of senior representatives from: (i) Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India; (ii) National Commission for Women; and (iii) reputed representative from Delhi University.
