GAIL wins Greentech Safety Awards 2007
GAIL (India) Limited has once again bagged the top two ‘Greentech Safety Awards 2007’ in Petroleum and Gas Sector. GAIL’s Pata plant has been awarded the Platinum Award and the Gandhar Plant the Gold Award. Greentech Foundation who has instituted the award held an award ceremony in Mumbai on 22nd February 2007 to facilitate the award winners. The Platinum award for GAIL Pata was received by Shri A.K Ray, Executive Director, (Health Safety and Environment) and Shri R Suresh, Officer in Charge, GAIL (Pata) and the Gold award for Gandhar Plant was received by Shri M C Deogam, OIC (Gandhar). The representatives from Fire and Safety Department from the two plants i.e. Mr. Ravi Sharma from GAIL Pata and Mr. R P Singh from GAIL Gandhar were also there to receive the awards.
Mr. Tony Smith, Executive Director (National Safety Council, USA), the chief guest of the event distributed the awards to the award winners. Shri R Suresh was invited to deliver an address to the august gathering wherein he brought out the importance given to health, safety and environment in GAIL. He also mentioned that GAIL has been consistently recognized nationally and internationally for safety in the operations of its pipelines and plants. These include OISD (Oil Industry Safety directorate) awards for HBJ pipeline and LPG plants, awards from National Safety Council and the British Safety Council top awards.
