Compressed Natural Gas (CNG): is natural gas compressed to a pressure of 200-250 Kg/cm² (g) (due to its low density) to enhance the vehicle onboard storage capacity. Thus, the compressed form of natural gas is used as a fuel for transportation purposes.
Natural gas is a mixture of hydrocarbons: Methane, Ethane, Propane, Butane, Nitrogen, Helium, Carbon dioxide, Hydrogen sulphide and Water vapour. The calorific value of the natural gas is around 8500 Kcal/SCM. Hydrocarbon is an organic compound containing only carbon and hydrogen atoms. When methane is burned completely, it produces carbon dioxide and water vapour, the substances emitted when we breathe.
