INFRASTRUCTURE (15%)

Like all public sector enterprises, rural developmental work has been an inherent part of GAIL’s business. The businesses of GAIL i.e. gas transportation & marketing, petrochemicals, city gas, telecom, etc. has led to a significant development of natural gas infrastructure and almost 70-80% of this is in remote rural areas, its work in the rural development sector has been almost since its inception. GAIL’s thrust on developmental activities follows the route of its business along its pipeline, with Infrastructure being one of the focus areas. GAIL’s initiative towards building blocks of the nation is an effort to bridge the infrastructural gap, to improve the quality of life of the people by means of faster communication, improved facility for imparting education for children and better health care facilities etc. Our projects for development of Infrastructure involve construction of village approach roads, bitumen carpeting of the roads, street lighting, construction of school and hospital building, community halls, bus shelters, rest rooms, construction of drains for better irrigation facilities. Our efforts extend also to the rehabilitation of the displaced too. As part of these projects we have also financed a part of the expenses of the Physically Handicapped Institute at Surat and repaired the bridge over the Kalisindh river at Khera. GAIL has earned the respect and goodwill of the people by connecting its plant establishment with the nearby villages for the ease of its stakeholders for better approachability.

Our effort is only a small drop in the ocean, however we hope that our contribution to infrastructure will go a long way in the development of a Modern India which has been envisaged by connecting the remote villages to the urban mainstream. Better connectivity has opened hope and opportunity for the rural masses to make a better living today.

• Contribution of funds for construction of bridge across the major drain between Ponnamanda-Chinnadam village of Razole Mandal at Rajahmundry.
• Construction of the link road at Agra and link road from Pedapalla to Gummileru at Rajahmundry.
• Contribution of Diesel Genset to Sri Matha Trust, Chennai
• 1 No. of Hatchery at Lakwa.
• Construction of boundary wall of Shivlakha Village Primary School at Samakhiali.
• Provided hospital furnishing items, like bed, cots, fridge etc. to nearby primary health centres, organizing AIDS Awareness Programmes etc at Samakhiali.
• Construction of CC road measuring 1500 Meters & 3.25 Meters width, 4" height in Village Bhesan. Post Bhesan, Taluka - Chourasiya. Dist. Surat.
• Approach Road for newly constructed College Building by GAIL at Tarana
• To help rehabilitation of destitute women and children and to bring them to main stream, Kochi.
• Beautification of access road in Maligaon, Guwahati by Corporate Office
• Construction of a wall in the PHC, Pata for telemedicine centre room and supply of equipment etc.
• Grant for part construction of Physically Handicapped Institute at Surat
• Contribution to Devadiga Sangha, Mumbai for construction of Regional CulturalCentre .
• Carpeting / Bitumen of Road measuring 2.5 Kilo Meter in Village Ichchapur Taluka. Chourasiya. Dist. Surat.
• Repairing of road / laying of drinking water pipeline (2 K.M.) in Village Erthan, Post Aerthan, Taluka Olpad, Dist. Surat.
• Repair of bridge over Kalisindh river at Khera.
